Circle 99: Željana Zovko promotes dangerous theses harmful to BiH

(Patria) - The Association of Independent Intellectuals Circle 99 issued a statement sharply criticizing the political views of MEP Željana Zovko, assessing them as a continuous threat to the sovereignty and democratic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to Circle 99, Željana Zovko's political identity is already recognized as part of the right-wing extremism which, under the guise of European values, advocates for models of federalization and decentralization of BiH with the aim of achieving separatist and Greater-Nationalist projects.

The statement emphasizes that Zovko seeks to create a new political reality through the constant repetition of narratives that are not based on justice or the principles of modern liberal democracy.

"The imposition of the 'cuckoo's eggs' of federalization and a third entity is nothing more than a masked attempt to undermine the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is a substitution of theses that, instead of European standards on individual rights and equality, promote retrograde ethno-nationalist goals," state Circle 99.

They particularly emphasize that Željana Zovko, through her appearances, attempts to delegitimize the role of the international community, the institution of the High Representative, and friendly initiatives of countries like Great Britain, all in order to impose a dangerous ideology that has already shown catastrophic consequences in the past.

Circle 99 therefore announces a concrete step – the development of principles for constitutional reform which, as they state, will enable the return to genuine civic democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and not, as they say, "a deviant form of democracy tailored to Željana Zovko and related political ideologies".

"We will soon present to the public principles that offer a vision of a self-sustaining and rationally organized Bosnia and Herzegovina, based on the rule of law, democratic values, and the protection of individual human rights. We call on all political and social actors to support them and promote them in their respective fields," stated Circle 99.
