A 15-day crisis period lies ahead of us

The Sarajevo Canton Civil Protection Headquarters presented new data on the coronavirus epidemiological situation in this canton and warned citizens not to relax because we are only at the beginning of the crisis, however difficult that may be to accept.

In the last 24 hours, 45 people were tested in the Sarajevo Canton, bringing the total number of tested individuals in this canton to 526. There were no positive cases among these tested individuals, and we remind you that this morning information arrived from the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo about two more positive cases. This brings the number of infected people in the Sarajevo Canton to 41.

The KS Crisis Headquarters added that seven infected individuals have been hospitalized, two people are on oxygen therapy, two are in the recovery phase, and no one is on ventilators. The results of another 75 tests are expected.

Since the curfew was introduced in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 376 people have violated the movement ban in KS, while 1,042 people have violated isolation and self-isolation measures since the beginning of the registration of potential coronavirus carriers in KS. Currently, 1,540 people in KS are in self-isolation, while isolation has expired for 2,066.

"Regarding violations of isolation measures, we have significantly sobered up the situation compared to two or three days ago. However, I do not want to encourage the citizens of Sarajevo Canton in any way with these indicators because we are only at the beginning of this crisis, however difficult it may be for us to accept and hear. And through this, I especially draw attention to the fact that the prohibitions, orders, and suggestions of those responsible and competent must be respected," said Nenadić.

Regarding the establishment of quarantine, the Prime Minister of KS said that a quarantine was established eight days ago in the Bjelave Student Dormitory, where 18 people are accommodated under medical protection. Nenadić points out that the situation in this quarantine is satisfactory.

The KS Crisis Headquarters informed citizens that a flight is scheduled for tomorrow, bringing between 35 and 100 citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina back from Sweden.

"We have also made sure to provide appropriate examinations for these citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina upon landing at the airport and accommodation in the quarantine at Bjelave. We have taken everything within our jurisdiction to realize this without any difficulties," added Nenadić.

Referring to the decision allowing those over 65 years of age to move from April 6 to April 10 to collect their pensions, the commander of the KS Crisis Headquarters and the Minister of Communal Economy of KS, Nihada Glamoč, called on all other citizens to minimize their movements as much as possible during these days.

"A 15-day crisis period lies ahead of us, and I call on all citizens to respect and implement all measures in their entirety. Maintain social distance and wear masks and gloves," Glamoč said.
