Krišto discusses current political situation with ministers of France and Germany

(Patria) - Today in Sarajevo, a meeting was held between the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, and the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Benjamin Haddad, and the Minister for Europe of the Federal Republic of Germany, Gunther Kirchbaum. The trilateral meeting provided an opportunity to discuss current affairs at the highest political level.

The European path of our country, the current political situation in Europe and the region, as well as issues related to the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina were among the topics at today's meeting.

Chairwoman Krišto informed the ministers about key topics from the perspective of the competencies of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and everything that has been done on the foreign policy and domestic fronts. Chairwoman Krišto emphasized the importance of political responsibility of all political representatives of the three constituent peoples, who must make progress through dialogue and compromise. The successes achieved are a clear indicator that with political will, all issues can be resolved to mutual satisfaction.

The meeting also discussed the topic of the Office of the High Representative and the status of the OHR. Internal agreements provide sustainable solutions. Any intervention gives domestic officials an alibi not to reach agreements, and such a thing degrades the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina and opens space for a status quo on key issues, which leads to a stalemate in the European perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina and everything we must fulfill for full membership in the EU.

Chairwoman Krišto also discussed the topic of the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the necessity of reforming anomalies that have multiple negative effects. Attempts to impose political representatives of one constituent people on another constitute the abolition of constitutionally guaranteed rights, which damages inter-ethnic relations. The equality of constituent peoples is a fundamental constitutional principle on which the constitutional order and political system in Bosnia and Herzegovina rest, as confirmed by the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as all relevant decisions of the European Court of Human Rights.
