Krišto: European Commission adopted the Reform Agenda, the chief negotiator is appointed by the executive, not the legislative authority

(Patria) - Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Borjana Krišto stated that at the summit in Tirana it was confirmed that the European Commission adopted the Reform Agenda for BiH.

Krišto said that next Wednesday there will be an official confirmation to the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the Summit of leaders of the region and the European Union, held in Tirana, Krišto, together with EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos and other high European officials, discussed new initiatives for strengthening regional cooperation and economic connectivity.

As she stated, after the confirmation of the Reform Agenda, the appointment of a coordinator and the ratification of two agreements follow – the Access Agreement and the Loan Agreement.

"At the summit, it was said that they expect the ratification of both agreements so that we can continue with other countries in the region in step with the implementation of this important project, i.e., the Growth Plan," Krišto said in an interview with FENA.

Four new initiatives within the Growth Plan were also presented, including a roadmap for roaming, mechanisms for cooperation between the countries of the region and the EU that will reduce costs and improve services, as well as initiatives related to the artificial intelligence factory and industrial dialogue.

She also recalled the process of BiH's accession to SEPA, emphasizing that four countries in the region have already completed this process and are feeling its benefits.

"This year we are in the phase of submitting a pre-application, and next year we could submit an official application when it comes to SEPA," said Krišto.

The summit also reopened the issue of professional drivers in the context of green corridors, which was previously discussed in Skopje.

Krišto also informed European officials about the political situation in BiH, emphasizing that the country is in a phase of political consolidation, including consolidation within institutions.

"As confirmation of this is the adoption of the budget of BiH institutions and international obligations for 2025, which is of great importance for the reform processes."

Speaking about BiH's European path, Krišto emphasized the importance of adopting two laws and establishing the Office of the Chief Negotiator.

"I communicated this with representatives of European institutions and clearly received understanding that this is the work and authority of the executive authority institution, not the legislative one, nor any house. These are obligations that lie ahead of us. I am convinced that we can do this by the beginning of December," said Krišto.
