(Patria) - King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden received the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, for an audience as part of an official visit to the Kingdom of Sweden.
This is the first audience of the Chairman of the BiH Presidency with King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992. King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden ascended to the throne in September 1973.
The Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, thanked for the overall support and assistance of the Kingdom of Sweden to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its EU and NATO path, as well as for all the support and assistance provided so far. He also stated that he greatly appreciates the continuous and strong support of the Kingdom of Sweden for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He familiarized King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden with the current security and political circumstances in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, as well as with destructive policies that threaten peace and stability.
King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden stated that the Kingdom of Sweden will continue to support Bosnia and Herzegovina. During a substantive conversation, he recalled, among other things, his visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1997, when he visited Swedish soldiers as part of SFOR in Tuzla.
Bećirović invited King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina in the coming period, emphasizing that it would be a great honor for the country of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, stated that the friendship and partnership between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sweden have been intensely developing for over three decades. He highlighted that the numerous Bosnian diaspora, which is excellently integrated into Swedish society, has significantly contributed to this.
Over 130,000 citizens of Bosnian origin live in the Kingdom of Sweden, and many of them are involved in the economic, cultural, and political life of Sweden. This is also due to the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Kingdom of Sweden have concluded a Dual Citizenship Agreement, which is applied in both countries.
