SDP BiH strongly condemns the violation of rights guaranteed by the Constitution of BiH and applicable laws by the authorities in the RS, who persist in denying the Bosnian language, thereby directly discriminating against children of non-Serb nationality in this BiH entity, according to a statement from the SDP, as reported by the Patria news agency.
-Because of this, returnee children are once again forced to attend supplementary classes, in order to prevent planned oppression, humiliation, and ultimately, the emigration of children whose parents survived genocide and ethnic cleansing in the same area where their basic human rights are now being denied.
It is a disgrace and a shame that in the 21st century anyone is denied the right to call their language whatever they wish and to study it, especially when it concerns rights guaranteed by the Constitution of one of the three constituent peoples.
The authorities of the RS, and above all its president and government, must stop denying the right to the Bosnian language, because otherwise, they will not be able to avoid responsibility for planned discrimination and the expulsion of the non-Serb population from the territory of the smaller BiH entity.
Given that these brutal violations of basic rights have been occurring for some time with the silent observation of representatives of the international community, we call on the OHR to finally react, because it is evidently a problem that falls within their direct mandate, given that it involves a direct violation of Annexes 4 and 7 of the Dayton Peace Agreement, the SDP statement reads.
