(Patria) - Harmonizing positions on strategic projects for the Una-Sana Canton (USK), whose implementation will be insisted upon with higher levels of government in the coming period, and cooperation on the implementation of projects that contribute to development and better living conditions in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, were the topics that dominated the meeting of mayors Elvedin Sedić, Nermin Ogrešević, and Armin Halitović.
- There are many projects we can work on together, but it is very important that we have agreed on which projects are priorities for the development of the entire Una-Sana Canton.
It is practically impossible to separate the development of our three local communities, because we are geographically, administratively, economically, and in every other way connected, which is why joint progress is our ultimate goal.
On the other hand, I believe we have no time for any waiting and that at full capacity right now we can make strong strides and achieve top results - said the first man of Cazin, Nermin Ogrešević.
The construction of the Bihać - Cazin - Velika Kladuša expressway, the Bihać - Bosanska Krupa main road via the Srbljanski plateau, the construction of the airport in Bihać, the utilization of thermal waters in Gata, stronger support for the Una National Park, and better permeability of border crossings with Croatia, were highlighted as priority projects of exceptional importance when it comes to creating preconditions for stronger development of this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The three mayors also emphasized the importance of developing other local communities in the USK area, as well as their commitment to working together with the municipal heads of Bužim, Bosanski Petrovac, Sanski Most, and Ključ.
- Throughout history, important decisions were often made and important moves were taken in this part of the country, but in recent history, Krajina seems to have been left somewhat in the shadows.
That is why it is very important that we, as mayors, present a unified stance towards higher levels of government and make it clear that we in Krajina know exactly what we want and what we expect.
All significant projects implemented in Cazin or Bosanska Krupa are also important for Bihać and vice versa - says the mayor of Bihać, Elvedin Sedić.
Given that the listed strategic projects are not within the competence of local communities, the main message from the meeting is that the leaders of these local communities, as well as other political actors, should maintain course and a unified stance until their implementation.
- We can hardly escape the impression that almost all major projects and investments happening in our country bypass us.
We can freely say that the construction of a slow-vehicle lane in Lanište near Ključ and Dubovsko near Bihać, along with a few roundabouts, is the most that Krajina has received in the post-war period when it comes to road infrastructure.
While projects worth several hundred million KM are being implemented in other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we daily drive on a life-threatening road towards Bosanska Krupa. That is certainly not balanced development of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and something must change drastically - emphasized the mayor of Bosanska Krupa, Armin Halitović.
