Kovačević in Jablanica: For BiH, we cheer with the anti-fascist flag with lilies

(Patria) - Slaven Kovačević, advisor to the BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić, attended on behalf of the cabinet of the BiH Presidency member from the Croatian people in Jablanica the ceremony marking the eighty-third anniversary of the "Battle of Neretva".

Kovačević stated on that occasion that he laid flowers with a sense of pride in memory of the anti-fascists, who in a spectacular military operation in 1943, in the Neretva valley, saved thousands of wounded, and at the same time, in the continuation of the operation, defeated the fascist enemy. 



"History remembers and studies this today. On the other hand, I feel bitterness that today, among others, flowers were laid by those who, by their votes, enabled the election of Thompson's fans like Marin Vukoja to the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who appeared at events where fascist slogans were chanted, or the election of Zoran Krešić to the leadership of Federal Television, who, through his writing, affirms the war aims of a convicted joint criminal enterprise," Kovačević said.

He added that it is clearly a matter of ideological confusion of some, or perhaps an abandonment of anti-fascist ideology, for their own comfort. 

He stated that a conflict between two concepts is still being waged in Bosnia and Herzegovina today, the fascist and the anti-fascist.



"I would tell Ms. Darjana Filipović, as an ambitious lady, that she is completely right that this is a struggle between two concepts. One, the anti-fascist concept or anti-fascism with the equality of all people, which I personally represent, and the other, a whitewashed fascism in the cellophane of 'legitimate representation of the constituent peoples' and ethno-territorial divisions through ethnic policies, which Ms. Filipović apparently represents. Therefore, we face another struggle of anti-fascism against all manifestations of fascism.

Finally, unlike her, I will cheer for the national football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the upcoming World Football Championship in the jersey of our country's team, wrapped in the anti-fascist flag with lilies, the same flag under which the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina was admitted to the United Nations," Kovačević concluded.
