Kovačević first time in the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team: It is up to us to continue the streak of successful performances

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Sakib Malkočević, the most successful BiH selector, is already putting the pieces together for the next qualification cycle. As part of the preparations for the qualifying tournament that will be played in our country in the autumn, the BiH hopefuls will play two friendly matches in Albania.

For this gathering, our coaching staff has invited several debutants. Among them is Danijel Kovačević, who is currently a member of the cadet team of Munich 1860.

- First of all, it is an honor for me to have received the invitation. Now everything is up to me. This is my first time joining the national team gathering. For me, this is all a nice experience. Vitonji is also here, whom I met in Doboj. I spend the most time with him, although I have received an excellent welcome from my new teammates - Danijel Kovačević shares his first impressions.

Kovačević is a defender.

- I can successfully play as a center-back, but also as a right-back. It all depends on what the selector asks of me. I have no stage fright, because I once played at the highest level of competition for that age group when I was 14. Good performances led me to the jersey of Munich 1860 – says Kovačević.

Danijel has followed the performances of our hopefuls in previous qualification cycles.

- I know that BiH in this age group participated in the last two European Championships. That is truly commendable. It is up to us to continue the streak of successful performances – he believes.

Regarding the matches against their peers from Albania, he says that the tests will be of great benefit to them.

- Although these are friendly matches, our goal is to secure victories - pointed out Danijel Kovačević, the newly minted cadet national team player of our country and a great hope of the Munich 1860 club, for which Edin Radončić, a former Montenegro national team player in the younger selections, who is today a successful restaurateur in Belgium, played until recently – says Kovačević.
