Kovačević: Bećirović responsible for unauthorized appearance of his wife, BiH must follow international law on Gulf War!

(Patria) - Advisor to the BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić and Democratic Front presidential candidate Slaven Kovačević was a guest on BHRT's morning program, where he spoke, among other things, about BiH's stance on the Middle East conflict and the scandal related to the wife of the BiH Presidency Chairman Denis Bećirović.

"We in Bosnia and Herzegovina, who invoke international law, must be cautious and always invoke international law. Regarding the resolution, we condemned the consequence, not the cause. If we are to go by international law, you do not have the right to attack a sovereign state and seek its resources. And to be honest, Iran has no right to attack neighboring countries," said Kovačević.

Asked about the scandal the public is discussing, related to Mirela Bećirović, wife of Denis Bećirović, attending an international gathering, Kovačević states: "This is not her responsibility, it is Mr. Bećirović's responsibility. Although it concerns an invitation to first ladies, we do not have a first lady. This is an international gathering where Mirela Bećirović appeared independently on behalf of BiH, as there is no Presidency decision on this. Why didn't Bećirović put this before the Presidency and formalize it? Who gave Mirela Bećirović consent to appear on behalf of BiH's interests at an international forum?

Bećirović is directly responsible, and since there is no Presidency decision, certain questions arise about how 'freelancers' appear at international gatherings. This is not good for the country's reputation. It is all on his account and his mistake. On whose behalf did Mirela Bećirović speak, and what right did she have to speak on behalf of BiH?"

Regarding the possibility of winning the elections and his opponents, the Democratic Front candidate says: "This falls into the domain of the election campaign, but I believe in my victory and I am not afraid of anything. This is a country of free people – let anyone who wants to run. I think I have enough arguments to believe in my victory".
