Kosovo was admitted to the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) today at the 40th Congress in Budapest, after which they became the 55th member of the European football house, UEFA announced on its Twitter profile, Patria reports.
Admission to UEFA is a prerequisite for considering Kosovo's admission to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), at the FIFA Congress on May 13 in Mexico City.
If Kosovo is admitted to FIFA, it would mean they can compete in the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, in a group with Croatia, Turkey, Ukraine, Iceland and Finland, NAP writes.
