Bosnia and Herzegovina's basketball team defeats Greece for the first time in history!

(Patria) - Enjoy, basketball fans, celebrate fans of Bosnia and Herzegovina! For the first time in history, our national team has defeated Greece! Eleven times the unpleasant and always feisty Hellenes have beaten us. But not today.

Today, the chosen players of Vedran Bosnić, our lion-hearted coach, "devoured" the Greeks in the match of the 5th round of qualifications for the European Championship and celebrated with a convincing 84:69 victory.

The Dragons opened the match excellently, taking a 9:5 lead with a three-pointer by Penava, and then continued to increase the difference (17:10, 23:14), before "escaping" to a double-digit lead of 25:14 with a dunk by Kamenjaš. Our guys concluded the first quarter with a score of 26:18.

They continued in the same rhythm in the second quarter, and with a three-pointer by Sulejmanović, they increased the lead to 13 points (36:23) in the 13th minute. However, there was a drop in the play of the BiH team, which the Greeks punished, coming back to 39:35.

Fortunately, the Dragons quickly regained control of the game, restoring a respectable lead of 49:37 with points from Lazić and Sulejmanović. The half-time score was exactly that.

However, that was far from all. After the break, there was a true rhapsody from the energetic and fighting national team of BiH.

With consecutive points from Kamenjaš, our players achieved a lead of 58:39, Sulejmanović increased it to 63:40 a little later, and Roberson made it a high "plus 24" with one made free throw in the 27th minute (64:40).

However, there was another drop due to a series of poorly organized attacks, and the Greeks came back to 64:51 with an 11-0 run. That was also the score at the end of the third quarter.

At the start of the final quarter, the Dragons dominated again. Sulejmanović hit a three-pointer for 68:51, and then Gegić scored for 70:51.

When Kamenjaš effectively dunked over Katsivelis for 72:52, six minutes before the end, it was completely clear that we would achieve a historic triumph.

Of course, the Greeks did not give up, reducing the deficit to 74:62 in the 37th minute, but they did not have the strength, nor the time, for anything more. The match concluded with a final score of 84:69 in favor of BiH.

The most effective players for the BiH team were Emir Sulejmanović (23 points, 13 rebounds) and Kenan Kamenjaš (16 points), while for the Greeks it was Vassilis Kavvadas (16).

With this victory, our national team has secured first place in group H and thus a more favorable position in the draw for Eurobasket 2022.
