Probably no team in the world has a more packed schedule than Sarajevo's Bosna Royal, which has played eight games since the start of the season, and six in the last 15 days, reports the Patria agency.
The Students can expect the same pace as long as they play in Europe, which is at least four more weeks. Bosna is currently competing in three competitions: the BiH League, the ABA League 2, and the FIBA Europe Cup, writes Sportske.
This competition includes 32 clubs divided into eight groups, with the top two advancing. Bosna can hardly reach the second round after initial losses. They suffered their latest defeat at home against Groningen with a score of 43:72, which is just one of the heavier losses this season.
The qualifications for the Champions League ended ingloriously, as Ludwigsburg won by 69 points over two matches.
In the next 20 days, the players from Sarajevo will play ten games. A match in Antwerp is scheduled for November 8, and a day later in Sarajevo against Teodo from Tivat. The situation is even worse seven days later, when Bosna visits Groningen, and the next day Split. Last week, they had back-to-back games, as they played away against Zrinjski on Monday evening and hosted Vršac 24 hours later.
It is clear that coach Aleksandar Damjanović does not have a wide enough roster, as he needs two teams for such a schedule, which Cedevita had last year, for example. Probably everyone in Sarajevo is eagerly awaiting the end of their European odyssey and praying that everyone stays healthy, which raises the question of the motivation for playing in the fourth-tier international competition.
- It's too difficult, even for us young players who should have energy. The poor results are a consequence of the tight schedule, but it's also because we are still getting to know each other. Everything will fall into place, we just need to continue working and believing. We don't have time for proper training because the games are coming one after another, but I expect us to play better and better and enter the final stages of the ABA League 2 and the domestic championship – said the best player of Bosna so far this season, Draško Knežević.
A short break and salvation for the players will come with the qualifications for the World Cup in China, after which there will be an 11-day club break.
