(Patria) - Centers for Civil Initiatives and civil society organizations gathering patients who are beneficiaries of the Fund for Solidarity of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina held peaceful protests in front of the FBiH Parliament building ahead of the session of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament tomorrow.
The reason for the gathering are the decisions of the FBiH Government that are on the agenda of the session of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, scheduled for July 25, 2023, by which the FBiH Government has not made a step towards resolving the issue of financing the FBiH Fund for Solidarity.
"Women are dying waiting for medication. These are not just any women, they are our fellow citizens, our mothers, daughters, sisters, close friends. They are dying of breast cancer and have not been given a chance to be treated at all. Due to the lack of cytostatics, there are currently 209 female patients with metastatic breast cancer in BiH on waiting lists," said Enida Glušac, from the Association of persons suffering from breast cancer and other malignant diseases Renesansa.
A large number of citizens came with banners "Health is not a luxury, health is a right", "You decide about our lives", "We demand solidarity", "Now it's your turn", "Our lives are in your hands, you are responsible", "Do we have a right to live", were some of the messages from the protest.
For two decades, the FBiH Government has been violating the Law on Health Insurance of FBiH by avoiding paying between 130 and 140 million KM annually into the budget of the Fund for Solidarity, which is part of the Health Insurance and Reinsurance Institute (ZZOR) of FBiH.
