(Patria) - A first-class consul of the Republic of Croatia was physically attacked on Sunday evening in the center of Banja Luka.
The consul's brother was also attacked.
In response to this incident, the Vice President of Republika Srpska, Davor Pranjić, issued a statement, vehemently condemning the attack.
"We received the information about the attack on the consul of the Republic of Croatia in Banja Luka with serious concern. We most strongly condemn all forms of violence, and especially attacks on diplomatic representatives," Pranjić stated.
He added that such incidents represent a serious breach of security and further deepen the sense of insecurity among citizens, especially among members of the Croatian people as one of the constituent peoples in Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"The security, dignity, and equality of the constituent peoples must be unquestionable and permanently protected, and all violence and threats must be clearly and unequivocally sanctioned," he stated.
He also pointed out that representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska have been informed of the event and that constant communication has been established with the competent institutions.
"We expect the authorities to shed light on this event as soon as possible and find the perpetrators, in order to send a clear message that violence and attacks of this kind will not be tolerated," Pranjić emphasized.
In conclusion, he stated that security, the rule of law, the protection of diplomatic representatives, and the equality of constituent peoples are fundamental values of every democratic society, and that it is necessary to continuously work on their preservation.
