(Patria) - The Logistika BiH Consortium warns the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and regional partners that Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently facing a serious disruption of international road transport.
This morning, over 100 transport vehicles were turned back from the borders, while approximately 2000 tons of goods remain stranded in transit, unable to be delivered to the European Union market.
"The majority of Bosnia and Herzegovina's international freight traffic takes place via border crossings in the north of the country along the Sava River, which are key exit points for the BiH economy towards the European Union market. It is precisely on these routes that serious delays and vehicle returns are occurring today.
At the same time, we want to emphasize that, according to available information from the transport sector, the same level of problems is not evident on routes through Serbia, and good neighborly relations have enabled a certain operational approach at the crossings, including the route towards Bajakovo. Serbia has also managed to secure certain progress or temporary solutions for its carriers on the route towards Hungary," the Consortium stated.
Why does Bosnia and Herzegovina not have the same level of protection for its carriers and economy?
"If concrete steps are not taken urgently and direct talks are not initiated with the institutions of the European Union and neighboring countries, Bosnia and Herzegovina faces a situation where imports and exports of goods are seriously threatened, and supply chains are jeopardized.
The Logistika BiH Consortium calls on the institutions to react immediately, as every hour of waiting means new losses for companies, workers, and the country's economy. The time to react is now," they urged.
