(Patria) - The Konjic National University last week hosted an emotional and content-rich promotion of the book "A Just War – Testimony of a Commander" by Hamza Ajanović, a former wartime commander of the 450th Brigade of the Army of RBiH. The 224-page publication, divided into five chapters, documents the struggle for the defense of Konjic and Bosnia and Herzegovina through authentic testimonies.
Expert Reviewers and Distinguished Guests
The promotion was attended by distinguished reviewers: Prof. Dr. Faik Špago, researcher and publicist Nihad Klinčević, and political scientist Mirza Memišević. Their joint message was that the book represents a valuable contribution not only to Konjic but also to Bosnian and Herzegovinian historiography. Špago emphasized the scientific value of the work, Klinčević highlighted its authenticity and the uncovering of forgotten details, while Memišević particularly stressed the importance of preserving the memory of the heroes who defended the largest municipality in BiH by area.
Heroes and the Moral Basis of Defense
War comrades also spoke at the promotion – Ramiz Tucak, Safet Jašar, Bajro Sušić, and Emin Selimotić. Their testimonies recalled military discipline, adherence to the Geneva Conventions, and the moral principles on which the defense of Konjic was based. "We must, above all, have great respect for ourselves, be direct, open, and speak factually about the affirmation of our struggle," was the message at the promotion.
Author's Personal Emotion
Hamza Ajanović experienced the book promotion with particular emotion, stating that he views every person who defended Bosnia and Herzegovina as a hero. He particularly highlighted the shadow fighters – people who are often forgotten, yet whose contribution to the defense is immeasurable. "This work is dedicated precisely to them," the author emphasized.
A Book That Leaves a Mark
"A Just War – Testimony of a Commander" offers a unique combination of documentary material, testimonies, and the author's personal experience. The promotion showed that interest in such publications does not wane and that the need for truth remains strongly present among citizens and researchers.
