(Patria) - Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Borjana Krišto opened today's conference of the European People's Party (EPP) with President Manfred Weber.
Today's conference marked the beginning of a two-day visit by European People's Party members, gathering high-ranking European and regional officials.
In her address, Chairwoman Krišto expressed satisfaction that Bosnia and Herzegovina is hosting such a meeting.
"My wish is that Bosnia and Herzegovina, over these two days, will be a place from which we send strong messages of commitment to peace, stability, prosperity, and unity of the region and all of Europe. In my capacity as Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I am deeply convinced that the path towards strengthening Bosnia and Herzegovina, building mutual trust, and achieving internal agreement leads precisely through the European path of our country. The European path is not a sprint, but a marathon. However, we equally know that today we no longer talk about whether Bosnia and Herzegovina should become a member of the European Union. Today we talk about how and how quickly we can achieve that goal," emphasized Chairwoman Krišto at the opening.
President of the Party of Democratic Action Bakir Izetbegović held a meeting today with the President of the European People's Party (EPP) Manfred Weber.
The meeting discussed the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a special focus on the European path of our country, the obligations Bosnia and Herzegovina must fulfill in the process of European integration, and the need to accelerate reform processes.
Also discussed was the role of the European People's Party, as the strongest political group in the European Union, in providing support to Bosnia and Herzegovina and dynamizing its European path. It was emphasized that SDA's membership in the European People's Party family is of particular importance for strengthening political communication and the influence of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Brussels, especially in the context of decision-making important for the European future of our country.
Special attention was paid to the upcoming General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the obligations that will face the future government in order to remove existing blockades, stop negative political and economic trends, and ensure the stability of institutions and the continuation of BiH's European path.
The interlocutors emphasized the importance of further coordination of activities within the European People's Party family, with the aim of stronger support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's path towards membership in the European Union, strengthening political stability, and accelerating reform processes.
