Konaković with members of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs: Brutal attack by RS leadership on BiH's constitutional order

(Patria) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković met on April 7, 2025, with members of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs (Committee on Foreign Affairs – AFET) Ondřej Kolář, rapporteur for BiH (Czech Republic, EPP), Tineke Strik (Netherlands, Greens/ALE), and António Tânger Corrêa (Portugal, Patriots).

The meeting discussed the current political situation in our country, BiH's European path, reform processes, and regional cooperation.

Minister Konaković informed the interlocutors on this occasion about the biggest political crisis in our country and the brutal attack by the leadership of the RS entity on the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He pointed out the danger of illegal actions by Milorad Dodik and RS officials, the undermining of state institutions, and the attempt to escalate the security situation in our country. He recalled Dodik's trips to Russia and the obstruction of our country's European path. He emphasized the exceptional importance of the EU's support for peace, stability, and security, both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the region.

In this context, he also referred to the role and activities of the EUFOR Althea mission. He stated that BiH must seize the opportunity and continue with reform processes on the path to the EU. Members of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs emphasized that the EU and its member states remain committed to providing support to BiH on its path to the EU and pointed to the importance of the rule of law and regional cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by the Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH Luigi Soreca.
