
(Patria) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković held a meeting on December 2, 2025, with the Director of the Office for Western and Central Europe at the U.S. State Department, Mark Fleming.
Minister Konaković began the conversation by expressing gratitude for the continued support of the United States of America for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, confirming that the US is BiH's most important strategic partner in preserving peace and stability after Dayton.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the current political situation in BiH, reform processes, and Euro-Atlantic integration. Minister Konaković reiterated Bosnia and Herzegovina's commitment to partnership with NATO and highlighted the importance of further cooperation in the areas of defense and security.
The Minister also spoke about the activities of the Council of Ministers in adopting legislative amendments aimed at strengthening institutional integrity and fighting corruption and organized crime. He emphasized the necessity of adopting key laws and appointing a chief negotiator in the European integration process, as well as the importance of preserving the functionality of institutions, respecting the Dayton Peace Agreement, and ensuring stability, democratic governance, and state sovereignty.
The meeting also discussed energy issues, with a focus on the Southern Gas Interconnection project, which Minister Konaković stressed is a project of key importance for national security and energy independence, and highlighted the need for strong diplomatic support from the US in overcoming political blockades and accelerating its implementation.
At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed their readiness to continue strengthening bilateral relations through further cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Fleming also met today with the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Krišto, and yesterday held a meeting with the Acting President of the RS, Ana Trišić-Babić.
