(Patria) - The UK Minister of State for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Stephen Doughty, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, held a telephone conversation today.
The discussion focused on the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the irreplaceable role of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) in preserving peace, stability, and the constitutional order.
Minister Konaković emphasized the importance of maintaining the full capacity and mandate of the OHR, highlighting its role in preserving institutional functionality, upholding the Dayton Peace Agreement, and protecting the sovereignty and democratic governance of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He stressed the continued relevance of the Bonn Powers when state institutions face direct challenges, pointing out their significance in preserving the integrity of the Dayton framework and preventing destabilizing actions.
Minister Doughty reaffirmed the United Kingdom's unwavering support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He emphasized the importance of the Office of the High Representative in upholding the Dayton Peace Agreement and reiterated the United Kingdom's strong support for the full mandate and authority of the OHR, while also stressing the importance of close cooperation with international partners in preserving peace, stability, and advancing the democratic future of the country.
