Komšić: Assembly representatives are extinguishing Sarajevo as the capital city

Representatives of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly at today's session did not allow the Mayor of Sarajevo, Ivo Komšić, to address them regarding the extremely difficult financial situation in which the City finds itself due to the negligence of the cantonal authorities, reports the Patria news agency.

-Thirteen representatives were in favor, while the others were abstaining and against, so I did not have the opportunity to clarify our positions. The amendments submitted by the City during the public hearing were not accepted, so we were not included in the budget rebalance they were adopting, and we requested 4 million KM.

The representatives showed that they are not interested in the City, and that they are the ones extinguishing Sarajevo as the capital city of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Komšić explained to Patria.

The Mayor of Sarajevo further states that capital projects such as the bicycle path, traffic lights for blind and visually impaired persons, the revitalization of the Trebević cable car, and numerous cultural events of an international character are now called into question.

-And we will now have to make a budget rebalance, remove all these projects. Also, according to the conclusion of the City Council, we will file a lawsuit against the Sarajevo Canton, which owes us money from 2014 as well, Komšić concludes.
