Komšić received Ambassador Hamilton: NATO wants to strengthen partnership with BiH

(Patria) - BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić received Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Partnerships in the NATO Political Affairs and Security Policy Division, Ambassador Kevin Hamilton.

Komšić discussed the overall situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as past and future cooperation with NATO. During the conversation, the importance of continuous dialogue and regular meetings between representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina and NATO was highlighted.

He emphasized the BiH Presidency's support for the continuation and strengthening of cooperation with NATO, and expressed his belief that Ambassador Hamilton's visit today will contribute to the further development of the partnership.

He expressed gratitude for the support provided to Bosnia and Herzegovina so far through existing partnership frameworks, with a special focus on strengthening institutional capacities, system resilience, and the ability to respond to contemporary security challenges. He assessed that the partnership cooperation is good and is proceeding at the planned pace, which primarily refers to cooperation with the BiH Ministry of Defence and the BiH Armed Forces.

The modernization and improvement of the conditions under which the soldiers of the BiH Armed Forces perform their tasks and provide assistance to civilian authorities in responding to natural and other disasters were discussed.

During the meeting, the successful engagement of the BiH Armed Forces in international peacekeeping missions and joint military exercises with partner countries was pointed out.

NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General, Ambassador Hamilton, reiterated NATO's commitment to strengthening the partnership and cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina. He expressed expectations that Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to implement the reform agenda and contribute to the overall development of the partnership with NATO.

On behalf of the BiH Presidency Chairman Denis Bećirović, the meeting was attended by Chief of Cabinet Alija Kožljak.
