Komšić and Bećirović Meet with Congressman Turner on Socio-Political Situation in BiH

(Patria) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić and member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović received the Chairman of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the United States House of Representatives, Congressman Michael Turner.

The meeting discussed the good and friendly bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States of America, followed by an exchange of opinions and views on the political and socio-economic situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Europe.

The members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina informed Congressman Turner about the strategic foreign policy and defense goals of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the domain of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as about the granting of candidate country status to Bosnia and Herzegovina for full EU membership since December last year, emphasizing that the granting of this status is a very important fact for everyone in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Congressman Turner noted that he has visited BiH on several occasions to express his commitment and the commitment of official Washington to the Peace Agreement signed in Dayton during his tenure as mayor of that city, and he is particularly encouraged by the consensus on EU integration within Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The US delegation to the meeting also included the US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Michael Murphy, who noted that Congressman Turner comes from the Republican Party, and also recalled other high-level delegations from the US Congress to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the last eighteen months, which, in his view, clearly reflects a united bipartisan commitment to the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and multi-ethnic Bosnia and Herzegovina by the United States of America, as its enduring foreign policy.
