Compromising messages with Admir Suljagić not an obstacle: Ćazim Serhatlić appointed Chief Prosecutor of Brčko District

In addition, the HJPC appointed Ćazim Serhatlić as the Chief Prosecutor in Brčko District, despite the HJPC's Disciplinary Prosecutor's Office (DPO) having conducted disciplinary proceedings against him.

The DPO filed disciplinary charges against Serhatlić, then a prosecutor at the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor's Office, in March last year.

Serhatlić was charged due to correspondence that Istraga.ba published in September 2024, which showed that he obstructed the investigation against the then Director of the HJPC Secretariat, Admir Suljagić.

Prosecutor Serhatlić coordinated his actions with Admir Suljagić in the case where Admir Suljagić was the reported/suspected party.

In September 2023, Istraga.ba published correspondence from HJPC Director Admir Suljagić with a businessman from Gračanica, Dženan Mujkić, who was arrested as part of the Rudnik operation.

"Admir S. - owner of the judiciary," read a message received by businessman Dženan Mujkić from Gračanica on February 11, 2021.

Seven days later, Dženan Mujkić, along with his father and then-state representative Enver Bijedić, was arrested as part of the Rudnik operation. The case concerned the conclusion of harmful contracts at the Tuzla Salt Mine.

When the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor's Office sent Mujkić's phone for forensic analysis, numerous incriminating correspondences with Admir Suljagić were found.

"Communication in the interception system marked with serial number 7263, carried out on 10.09.2020 at 14:46.

Dženan calls the interlocutor at number 062/688-018 (identified in previous conversations as Faris, Dženan's son) and Dženan says that Atif is in Sarajevo with Suljagić Admir, to finish that for the refined son, and that Atif told Admir everything about the Salt Mine, and that after that Admir called Dženan.

In the conversation, Dženan says that Admir is on good terms with Enver Bijedić and that he is protecting him a little regarding the indictments and that Admir will send him a message for them, since his man is the director of the Mine and to focus on that, not to "mess up". The conversation continues about a company from Bulgaria," stated the Decision of the Municipal Court in Tuzla.

Following this publication, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH opened a case against Suljagić. In November 2023, his phone was seized by order of the Court of BiH.

However, before Suljagić's phone was seized, the Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton, specifically then-prosecutor Ćazim Serhatlić, who was also the acting prosecutor in the Rudnik case, had also opened a case on this matter.

Prosecutor Serhatlić's goal was to save Admir Suljagić. The fact that "suspect" Suljagić and prosecutor Serhatlić coordinated everything is shown by the correspondence found in Suljagić's phone, as also stated in the SIPA report.

In short, Prosecutor Serhatlić coordinated his actions with Admir Suljagić in the case where Admir Suljagić was the reported/suspected party.

"Greetings. Have you decided when I should give a statement to SIPA? Do we have an approximate date, or a week?", Admir Suljagić asked Prosecutor Serhatlić via Viber, who, a few days earlier, had "opened a case" against Admir Suljagić regarding the "owner of the judiciary" case.

"I have just now", Suljagić would reply, "sent a letter to SIPA and I did not set a deadline but said urgently, so let them look for you. Of course, I did not specify a phone number, as it is not needed. They will figure it out".

"Do I need a lawyer", Suljagić asked.

"No, you don't. I said as a witness regarding what we discussed", Serhatlić would write.
