(Patria) - The Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ASAS BiH) organized a commemorative session on the occasion of the death of academician Slavo Kukić. This expert, scientist, and sociologist, a full member of ASAS BiH, passed away on September 7, and was buried yesterday in his native Posušje.
In a fitting speech, academician Miodrag Simović from the Department of Social Sciences of ASAS BiH recalled, among other things, the virtues that adorned academician Kukić and his rich career. He says that Kukić, as a long-time associate and friend, was a man of exceptional intelligence, possessed strong emotions, was captivating as a person, calm in all situations, and solved problems optimally.
"He was ready to present his opinion to the public judgment from the noblest motives, selflessly and openly. The opinion and stance of academician Kukić was often the voice of one crying in the wilderness. It does him honor that, through moral qualities, integrity, firmness, and consistency, he earned the respect of his opponents," he said.
Simović points out that academician Kukić was a lover of his profession, a proponent of justice, an excellent lecturer, and a devoted colleague, a reliable interlocutor, and advisor.
"Witty, often ironic, well-intentioned, adaptable, and communicative, friendly and professionally oriented. He captivated with his cheerfulness, exceptional sense of humor, ability, and desire to help others. He gave us a beautiful example of how to build interpersonal relationships," Simović emphasized.
Slavo Kukić was born on July 21, 1954, in Posušje. In February 1977, he obtained a degree in political science from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo, in 1983, he earned a Master's degree in Social Sciences from the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Study at the University of Sarajevo, and in November 1986, he obtained a doctorate in sociology from the Faculty of Political Sciences.
Since 1992, he has been employed at the Faculty of Economics in Mostar, and he became a full professor in 1999.
