Who is in a hurry to take over KCUS, Izetbegović and Mesihović have the same New Year's wish

On the same day (December 22, 2014) when the Management Board of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo, led by Prof. Dr. Mehmed Gribajčević, dismissed Prof. Dr. Damir Aganović from the position of General Director, it also hastily adopted the Decision on announcing a public tender for the selection and appointment of a new General Director of KCUS, writes the Patria News Agency.

Prof. Dr. Aganović, in an interview with Patria yesterday, said that he would seek justice in court because he believes he was illegally dismissed.

And that this was a well-thought-out and planned political game was confirmed by today's public tender, from which it is clear that all the work was done at the same session, and that the future General Director is in a great hurry to take the chair.

As has been speculated for a long time, Prof. Dr. Sebija Izetbegović and the current Minister of Health of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Rusmir Mesihović, are very interested in this position. Izetbegović tried to get the director's position two years ago, but at that time SDP was much stronger, and she was "forced" to take only the position of director of the General Hospital "Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš".

Mesihović also shows ambitions to be the head of KCUS, but after the electoral debacle of SDP, it is difficult for him to get that position. However, that possibility also remains open because Gribajčević (retired) is at the head of the Management Board, who is a trusted man of the minister, and Mesihović is trying in every possible way to "squeeze" into the Democratic Front in order to get the director's position as their cadre.

The issue of appointing the General Director of KCUS will be resolved on the line between the Democratic Front and SDA. In case SDA, i.e., Izetbegović, takes over this position, DF will seek the position of director of the Sarajevo Canton Health Insurance Fund, whose annual budget is around 350 million KM.

And that things have heated up considerably at KCUS, and that, like all appointments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, they have a deep political background, was confirmed in his statement to the media by Prof. Dr. Haris Tanović, who gave a statement on behalf of the Management Board the day after Aganović's dismissal. Among other things, he hid the fact that the Decision on announcing a tender for the selection of a new General Director was also made at the same session.

- In order to harmonize the operation of KCUS with the Law on Health Protection, the Management Board was obliged to proceed with the appointment of new management, and therefore we made the decision to dismiss the General Director, and appoint an acting one for a maximum of six months, during which we will carry out the procedures for the election of new management - said Tanović.
