Kolinda proud of Gotovina; what would happen if Izetbegović appointed Dudaković or Vikić as advisors

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović has appointed members of the Homeland Security Council, writes the Patria news agency.

Among the more prominent names are generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markač, as well as the son of Croatia's first president Franjo Tuđman, Miroslav. At one time, the younger Tuđman was also the founder and head of Croatian intelligence service.

Gotovina and Markač were charged with war crimes by the Hague Tribunal, but were acquitted.

The Croatian President was guided, in all likelihood, by the logic of surrounding herself with people of "the trade," names that marked the most important years of building the independent state and the Homeland War in the history of the neighboring country.

And so, in the extremely important Homeland Security Council of a country, a member of the European Union, places were found for Gotovina, Markač, and Tuđman, and no one has anything against it.

This news was met with approval in Croatia, and Kolinda gained public sympathy. Brussels is not bothered either that these people are the president's right hand on the most important issue - the issue of homeland security.

Let's draw a parallel.

What would happen if, for example, a member of the BiH Presidency Bakir Izetbegović appointed, say, celebrated war commander Atif Dudaković to such a council, or just as his security advisors in the cabinet?

Or if, by any chance, Jusuf Pušina, Avdo Hebib, Ramiz Dreković, Sefer Halilović, Sakib Mahmuljin, Fikret Ćuskić, Sakib Forić, Dragan Vikić, Kemal Ademović were there...

The Croatian president made a logical move - who can better know what poses a danger to homeland security than those who defended and built the neighboring country.

That is how it should probably be in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well. But it is not.

If Izetbegović even thought and uttered aloud that he would appoint any of the above-mentioned as advisors, the chaos that would ensue on the BiH political scene would be of immeasurable proportions and with who knows what consequences for him personally.

That is why in Croatia, an EU member, seasoned police-intelligence-military veterans do not bother anyone. On the contrary. This move is celebrated.

It is enough to recall the humiliating retirement of generals from Dudaković onwards, in the dark room of the Konak villa, where they were given almost in secrecy some "little plates" as a reward for everything they did for this country.

In BiH, one cannot even say a dignified farewell to its heroes. Let alone show them trust to help today, in peacetime, with their advice in the extremely important segment of the survival of every state called security.
