How many kilometers of highways do the countries in the region have?

(Patria) - TRT Balkan published data on its Facebook profile about how many kilometers of highways the countries in the region have.

Of the Balkan countries, Croatia has the longest highway network, measuring 1,314 kilometers.

In 2022, Montenegro got its first section of highway, a 41-kilometer stretch of the Bar - Boljare main road, from Mateševo to Andrijevica.

Croatia has the longest highway network, totaling 1,314 kilometers. The longest highway is Zagreb – Split – Dubrovnik, measuring 484 kilometers. Construction of a new 28-kilometer section, from Dubrovnik to Metković, began this year.

The total highway network in North Macedonia is 316 kilometers. The longest highway is "Friendship" (173 kilometers), part of Corridor 10. It runs from Tabanovce (border with Serbia), through Kumanovo, Miladinovci, Skopje, Veles, Demir Kapija, and the Gevgelija – Valandovo Gorge, to Smokvica.

Serbia has a highway network measuring 937 kilometers. The longest highway is A1, from the Horgoš border crossing with Hungary, through Novi Sad, Belgrade, Niš, Vranje, to Preševo (border with North Macedonia), measuring 605 kilometers.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has a total of 243 kilometers of highways. Work is currently underway at several construction sites, and another 26 kilometers of highway are expected to be opened by the end of this year.

The total length of the highway network in Kosovo is approximately 170 kilometers. The "Ibrahim Rugova" highway, with 102 kilometers from Pristina to the border with Albania, is the longest highway.

In Albania, the highway network is over 200 kilometers long. The longest highway is A1, from Morina, the border with Kosovo, to Tirana – 151 kilometers.

Montenegro received its first section of highway in 2022. It is a 41-kilometer stretch of the Bar – Boljare main road, from Mateševo to Andrijevica. The construction cost one billion dollars.
