Koalicija za Mostar Opens Campaign for Local Elections with Large Rally

(Patria) - The opening of the election campaign titled "Mostar for All - Mayor for All Citizens" by the Coalition for Mostar (SDA, BPS and BH Zeleni) was held last night at the Mostar Cultural Center.

Members and supporters of the Coalition were addressed by Alis Čolaković, Šerif Špago, Sevlid Hurtić, Mesud Hero, and Đani Rahimić.

The first to address those present was Alis Čolaković, president of the SDA City Committee and representative of the Coalition for Mostar.

- As the most organized and strongest pro-Bosnian political entity in the city of Mostar, on October 6 in the Local Elections we are running with one goal: to secure a sufficient number of councilors in the City Council who will elect Professor Dr. Đani Rahimić as Mayor of Mostar.

The city of Mostar is a paradigm of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and pro-Bosnian political forces must demonstrate unity and togetherness there. In Mostar, these forces must not falter, fall, or, God forbid, betray - emphasized Čolaković.

He explained the key importance of electing a mayor to unblock processes in Mostar.

- Our economic, developmental, social, and cultural programs cannot be implemented without the position of mayor, because it is the only executive authority in the city of Mostar.

Only with a mayor who is the mayor of all citizens of Mostar can we ensure equal status for every citizen, investor, entrepreneur, and craftsman, as well as remove delays on the Mevlana intercultural center project.

We can restore the luster to the Partisan Memorial. We can improve the reputation and perception of Mostar as an open city where no ethnic group dominates.

For this, we need a mayor of Mostar for all citizens, and that is our Đani Rahimić - stated Čolaković.

Šerif Špago, vice-president of SDA, greeted those present and listed the main reasons why this coalition is the best choice for the citizens of Mostar.

- These 48 candidates on the Coalition for Mostar list cannot achieve our goal alone. All of us who are not on the lists, but are members and supporters of the parties that make up the Coalition for Mostar, have an obligation and responsibility.

We often say these are historic elections; actually, every election is historic, and these may be decisive for pro-Bosnian parties to finally get a mayor - emphasized Špago.

Sevlid Hurtić, president of BH Zeleni, emphasized the importance of this coalition.

- There must be no traitors among us. You know who the traitor was when the 18th and 17th hands were needed. Never forget that.

Remember those two names for all generations. Four years ago, we could have had a mayor; now we would just, as they say, go out on the field and push the ball from the line into the goal.

But as it is, we are again fighting for 18 councilors - said Hurtić, and called on voters from two electoral units where this Coalition does not have a list to vote for other pro-Bosnian coalitions.

The president of the cantonal organization of BPS, Mesud Hero, explained the reasons for his party's participation in this coalition.

- I expressed myself as a man, and our party, as well as our president, General of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sefer Halilović, that we want to build a pro-Bosnian political option in Mostar that will guarantee that those who are threatened at this moment and who were threatened in the previous period have reliable political protection in the City Council - stated Hero.

Prof. Dr. Đani Rahimić, in his inspired address to those present, briefly presented the main challenges and goals of his political engagement.

- You who were born in this city, who chose Mostar for yourself and the life of your children, who love this city and wish it well, one of you stands before you. Mostar is my inspiration, my home, and my life.

All my life I have worked with young people and taught them, I have designed projects and implemented them, created possibilities and found opportunities, enjoyed the natural beauty of Mostar and beautified its landscape.

I have never been involved in politics, its intricate laws and gloomy bureaucracy. But politics got involved with me, put me before the choice of my life and offered me a historic opportunity to try to turn the city we love into a miracle with you - stated Rahimić.

He added that this is a university city that must retain its young people and provide opportunities for other young people to come to Mostar, stay here, and develop this city.

- We have united companies, we will also unite people who believe and want to fight for their city. I am not a politician, I am one of you. And my advantage is not that I am a Bosniak, a university professor, a polyglot, and a candidate of the largest political organization.

My advantage is that I know how to make this city better - concluded the candidate for Mayor of Mostar, Đani Rahimić, at the end of his address.
