Who will lead the General Hospital 'Prim.dr Abdulah Nakaš' after Gavrankapetanović's departure

(Patria) - After prof.dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović was elected director of KCUS, pending confirmation by the FBiH Minister of Health Nediljko Rimac, the question remains open as to who will lead the General Hospital 'Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš' after his departure.

In a statement to N1 following today's election, Gavrankapetanović said he leaves the General Hospital in excellent, financially stable and positive condition, with an outstanding team of doctors, nurses and technicians, as well as other non-medical staff.

"Over the past four years, we have shown how a small city hospital can become a respectable medical center recognized in the country and the region. I am proud of the employees at the General Hospital 'Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš'; it is a great heart of the city," he said.

Former Minister of Health of Sarajevo Canton Haris Vranić, who returned to work as a doctor at this hospital, was previously mentioned as one of the possible candidates for director of the General Hospital.

The first step after Gavrankapetanović's departure to KCUS will be taken by the General Hospital's Board of Directors, which will have to appoint an acting director until the competition procedure for selecting a new director is completed.

Another question that remains is how many doctors will receive an offer to transfer or return to KCUS and whether this will affect the operation of the General Hospital.

For now, there are no publicly known candidates interested in taking over this hospital, but this position, by all accounts, will be an agreement among the political parties that make up the government in Sarajevo Canton, namely SDP, NIP and Naša stranka.
