(Patria) - At yesterday's session of the Sarajevo City Council, the report on the work and operations of the public enterprise "Olympic Pool Otoka" did not receive a single vote of support from councilors.
The Councilors' Club of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina condemns the catastrophic management of this important sports and public resource, as well as the political protection that the current director enjoys from the ruling Troika, given that he comes from the People and Justice party (NiP).
The report on the work and operations of the Pool did not receive a single vote of support, which is a clear indicator of the extreme concern of councilors, but also a confirmation of the difficult situation in which the enterprise finds itself.
"Despite high attendance and multi-million financial support from the City of Sarajevo and the municipalities, the enterprise is facing serious debts for energy and services, while the facility is visibly deteriorating in technical and infrastructural terms.
What is particularly concerning is the fact that the enterprise is headed by a person without adequate professional qualifications to manage such a complex sports facility, to whom the Supervisory Board, also politically appointed, approved an exceptionally high monthly salary of nearly 6,000 KM.
At the same time, workers, users, and especially children and persons with developmental disabilities suffer the consequences of irresponsible management.
At the session, a series of alarming allegations were presented - from the employment of persons with questionable pasts, travel without proper documentation and orders, spending of public funds outside legal procedures, to preventing access for trainers and users with special needs," announced the SBiH Councilors' Club.
From this Club, they emphasize that through a constructive and reasoned discussion, they clearly pointed out these irregularities, thereby opening a broader debate, and for the first time, the parties of the Troika also voted against the report of their own cadre, which SBiH considers an indirect admission of failed personnel policy.
The Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina demands an urgent review of the responsibility of those in charge, as well as an end to the practice of political experimentation in the management of public goods. Public enterprises must serve citizens, not be a training ground for party employment and distribution of privileges.
"Given all the observed irregularities and illegalities, we call on the competent institutions to react urgently, initiate appropriate procedures, and sanction those responsible.
The SBiH Councilors' Club remains consistent in the fight for transparent, lawful, and professional management of public institutions. The citizens of Sarajevo deserve professional managers and institutions that serve them, not those that burden them," stated the SBiH Councilors' Club.
