Klas begins purchasing mushrooms and spruce berries

After returning to business with raspberries and berries, the Bosnian-Herzegovinian food industry Klas d.d. Sarajevo has successfully launched the purchase and processing of mushrooms and spruce berries, it was announced from this company, as reported by the Bosnian news agency Patria.

An agreement has been reached with a German partner for the export of about 40 tons of forest mushrooms and spruce berries to the markets of Germany, Slovenia, Italy and France. From 200 domestic cooperators from the Goražde area, about 20 tons of dried mushrooms of the porcini and black trumpet varieties, as well as 20 tons of forest spruce, have been purchased in this year's season.

As stated by the director of Klas, Rusmir Hrvić, the number of purchasing points will be expanded and agreements with cooperatives will be made.

- The plan is for Klas to increase the number of cooperators to 600 next year, and to expand the purchase to all municipalities where mushrooms and spruce thrive, with a focus on the areas of Central Bosnia, Podrinje, and Eastern Bosnia, which altogether includes 20 Bosnian-Herzegovinian municipalities - said Hrvić.

In this way, conditions will be created for the purchase of 50 tons of dried porcini mushrooms next year, 20 tons of dried srijemoš - wild garlic, 2 tons of dried morels, and 100 tons of spruce berries.

The plan to increase purchases also implies an increase in capacity, as well as the number of workers for processing and for raw material procurement.
