Klas purchased 1,100 tons of raspberries this year

Bosnia and Herzegovina's food industry company Klas d.d. Sarajevo purchased 1,100 tons of high-quality raspberries this season, cooperating with 800 contractors from the area of Sarajevo Canton, SBK, and ZDK, reports the Patria News Agency.

- This year's raspberry purchase is almost 100% higher than last year's. We exceeded our own plan, and this would not have been possible if Bosnian raspberry growers had not shown us trust again, and we honored that trust. All contractors have been paid for their products.

Analyses have shown that Klas has the best quality raspberries this year as well, which guarantee consumer health safety, and that is precisely why customers recognize us and ask for our raspberries, said Esad Babić, head of the Expert Service for Production Development and Raspberry Purchase at Klas d.d. Sarajevo.

Klas's Expert Service regularly visits producers and their raspberry farms every year, conducts training, and provides expert supervision of production and purchase, all with the aim of achieving high yields and good fruit quality, without the presence of pesticides and with safe microbiological correctness.

In 2016, we plan to expand cooperation, purchase, store, and process about 2,500 tons of raspberries and other berry fruits. In this regard, plans include expanding processing and cold storage capacities in Blažuj, as well as building a new cold storage facility in Tešanj.

In addition to 1,100 tons of Vilamet, Miker, and Polka raspberry varieties, 10 tons of cultivated blackberries, 17 tons of cultivated strawberries, 1 ton of wild blackberries, 20 tons of wild blueberries, and 12 tons of wild cranberries have been purchased so far.

The purchased fruit is partly processed for Klas's production needs, and a larger part is exported to the EU, Japan, and Turkey markets. Buy domestic, build BiH!, say Klas.
