China has the world's most complicated overpass, rising to five levels

(Patria) - The Huangjuewan overpass in Chongqing (China) is considered the most complex in the world and a true construction and traffic marvel.

Huangjuewan is also considered one of the most challenging overpasses to navigate in the world, writes Punkufer.hr.

And speaking of navigation - you can only imagine what it does to digital navigation systems with its five circular and parallel levels.

China can boast more infrastructural wonders and surreal traffic routes for the rest of the world, located high in the sky, and the Huangjuewan overpass leads this group.

Huangjuewan connects three main highways in Chongqing, with a complex interchange featuring 20 lanes on the aforementioned five levels.

Although it looks really tangled at first glance, and a bit scary, the giant interchange actually looks more complicated than it really is.

It is clearly marked and designed, along with access roads, so that even if you take the wrong exit, you can return to your desired direction in a maximum of ten minutes.

The intimidating pile of lanes was built precisely to make it easier for you to return.

The Huangjuewan overpass was intended to ease traffic between the airport, the city of eight million inhabitants, and the highways. Therefore, you can head in eight directions from it, towards three highways and other regional roads.

Construction of this interchange began in September 2009, and Huangjuewan was opened to traffic in 2017.

The work lasted more than seven years, and the planning took almost as long.
