(Patria) - Today at the National Theatre in Sarajevo, a series of emotional addresses continues following the death of legendary Bosnian singer Halid Bešlić, who passed away on Tuesday, October 7.
Ademir Kenović, a director and longtime friend of Bešlić, told those present:
„The entire region has been talking about our Halid in recent days, and his song was always heard somewhere – many times even on film. Halid once told me that his place was not in the theatre, that it was for the gentry. But in recent days we have seen that you were for everyone. I had the privilege of knowing you. You were a man who gave a noble note to everything – you gave energy, love, yourself, money. He recently told me an anecdote from Zagreb: at a wedding, they called him from the next hall for one song, and he told them: 'Not just one, I will sing for you until dawn.'“
Kenović added:
„Halid had a pleasant way of expressing himself, he spoke in the simple language of wisdom. He was open to new things, he accepted new ideas. When I hear that Halid has passed away, I think it cannot be, because he moved into us strongly and made each of us better.“
The commemoration continues a series of emotional addresses by family members, friends and associates who evoked memories of the life and work of Halid Bešlić, his humanity and contribution to music and society.
