Katić: We will respond to statements from the Swiss camp on the pitch, just like against Italy

(Patria) – Bosnia and Herzegovina national team player Nikola Katić, together with selector Sergej Barbarez, addressed the media at an official press conference in Los Angeles ahead of tomorrow's match against Switzerland at the World Cup.

The Dragons' defender emphasized that fan support is growing day by day and that the national team players feel a great responsibility towards everyone who follows them.

"The support is huge and growing. We expect it to continue like this. It means a lot to us, and we have an obligation to repay the fans in the best possible way," said Katić.

Speaking about the atmosphere in the national team and the experience of performing at the World Cup, he stressed that the players try to enjoy every moment.

"Every match brings something new and unexpected. We saw today that nothing is simple. It is important to be ready, to have good daily form, and to enjoy these moments. The World Cup passes quickly, but the memories remain," said the Bosnian national team player.

Katić did not want to make big predictions ahead of the duel with Switzerland, but emphasized that there is great confidence in the team.

"We know who Switzerland is, and we have huge respect for that national team. I don't like to talk too much in advance. We have shown that we can handle even stronger opponents, and I believe we will be ready," he said.

Commenting on the statements coming from the Swiss camp, Katić said there is no need to dwell on them.

"Everyone has the right to express their confidence. We already had a similar situation with Italy, and we showed how we respond to that," he added.

He had special words for captain Edin Džeko.

"We are talking about one of the most underrated players in world football. The man has scored almost 500 goals in his career. He is with us at every meal, at every meeting, a true leader and captain. We are happy to have him with us," Katić emphasized.

He also commented on the goal Bosnia and Herzegovina conceded against Canada, dismissing claims that Sead Kolašinac was responsible for the goal.

"I wouldn't say that Sejo was late. It was a collective mistake. Honestly, the responsibility is more mine and Tahirović's than his," he said.

In conclusion, he stated that every match at the World Cup carries special weight.

"At the World Cup, every match is a final. Everyone wants to finish the job as soon as possible and secure advancement. That's why I see tomorrow's match against Switzerland as a small final," Katić concluded.

The match between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Switzerland will be played tonight at 9 PM, and a possible victory for the Dragons would significantly bring them closer to advancing to the knockout stage of the World Cup.
