Karići 2025: A place of prayer that connects generations and evokes the symphony of dhikr

(Patria) - In the courtyard of the renovated Hajdar-dedina Mosque in Karići near Vareš, last night after the Isha prayer, the event “Days of Bosnian Spirituality – Karići 2025” was ceremonially opened.

The central mevlud program, with the participation of numerous believers, imams and representatives of the Tariqa Center, was filled with recitation of the Kalimat al-Tawhid, dhikr and lectures on the importance of spiritual connection with the Creator.

Mufti of Goražde, Remzija-ef. Pitić, in an inspired address, said that dhikr is not only a pious practice, but a “symphony of praising the Lord” in which every believer has an obligation to participate. He emphasized that “the one who is not part of that symphony leads a narrow and fruitless life,” recalling the tragedy in Gaza as an example of human treachery and the need for God's mercy.

Dr. Samed Omerdić from the Sarajevo Muftiship emphasized that places of prayer are meeting points of visible and invisible knowledge, where identity, faith and belonging to the homeland are confirmed. The chief imam of the Islamic Community of Vareš, Ramiz-ef. Zubača, pointed out that prayer reminds the believer of his dependence on the Lord, but also of the need for human encounters in a time of alienation.

Special emotion was evoked by the testimonies of visitors, such as Rešad Semić from Visoko, who has been visiting Karići for 35 years, and young Amel Hadrović from Olovo, who is just beginning his connection with Karići, but already plans a permanent return.

The Karići place of prayer, located on the slopes of Mount Zvijezda, was a spiritual refuge for decades without a permanent congregation. The mosque was burned down in the war in 1993, and rebuilt in 2001 thanks to numerous endowers. Today it testifies to the strength of a spiritual tradition that transcends generations.
