Captain Džeko: We believe in going to the European Championship

ZENICA, (Patria) - The national football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after defeating Armenia (2:1), moved to Zenica where they expect a match with Greece on Tuesday as part of the European Championship qualifiers. Captain Edin Džeko played his 100th match for the national team on Saturday at the Grbavica stadium, where he started his career. In an interview for the official website of the BiH FA, he said he hopes he won't be the last player to reach this jubilee.

"I am the first, and I believe I won't be the last. I hope for all of us that many players will reach 100 appearances. It's certainly a special feeling and that match will remain in my memory. After all, the most important thing was to win the match because it's the first in the qualifiers. It's always good to start with a win. Much tougher and more important matches are coming," said Džeko. 

He says fate wanted his 100th appearance to be at Grbavica. 

"I hope there will be more matches at Grbavica in the future, both for the national team and for me in its jersey."

Džeko also revealed that he had injury problems, which caused him some nervousness, even more so because congratulations were already in order.

"We are all positive about the continuation of the qualifiers. We believe in going to the EURO, but there is a lot ahead of us," Džeko concluded.

The players had a training session in Zenica today in several groups, and only Koljić was absent, who, according to the medical team's assessment, will be out of training for at least two weeks due to injury. Sarić is in the recovery phase but is still training under a special regime.

As planned, the A team will hold an official press conference tomorrow at 7:30 PM, followed by training at the "Bilino polje" stadium.

The press conference of the Greek national team is at 5:45 PM, and their training at 6:30 PM.
