Cantonal indictment against Budimir still in preparation

The Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Sarajevo is intensively working on an indictment against the President of the Federation, Živko Budimir, and others in connection with the case of illegal pardons of prisoners, it has been confirmed for the Patria News Agency from the KS Prosecutor's Office.

We remind that the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina declared itself factually incompetent to act in the criminal case based on the indictment of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH against the suspects Živko Budimir, Zoran Mikulić, Petar Barišić, Saud Kulosman, Hidajet Halilović, Željko Asić, and Armin Kulovac, after which the case was transferred to the cantonal level.

- The Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton is taking action in the case against the President of the Federation of BiH and others with the aim of harmonizing the indictment in accordance with the law. As this is a complex case with extensive documentation, the acting prosecutor is continuously working on it, so that the harmonized indictment can be sent to the competent court in Sarajevo, about which the public will be informed in a timely manner – said Alem Hamzić, spokesperson for the KS Prosecutor's Office.

It is known that Budimir was arrested in April 2013, and an investigation was conducted against him on suspicion that he abused his position and authority, violated the Law on Pardons, and that he signed pardons for convicts of serious crimes in exchange for money.
