Canadian Cities Pay Great Tribute to the State of BiH: March 1 Declared Bosnian-Canadian Day

(Patria) - On the occasion of the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in honor of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the mayors of Halifax and Edmonton have declared March 1 as Bosnian-Canadian Day.

Halifax Mayor Andy Fillmore and Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi issued proclamations confirming the rich culture, history and tradition of Bosnian-Herzegovinian Canadians. At the same time, they clearly supported the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, supported one of the most important state holidays, Independence Day, highlighted the contribution of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian community in Canada in various fields, and recognized the genocide in Srebrenica.

Thanking the mayors of Halifax and Edmonton, Emir Ramić, director of IGK, stated:

"It is an honor and a pride that the mayors of Halifax and Edmonton recognized the contribution of the Bosnian-Canadian community to Canadian culture, tradition and democracy. As a scientific research institution, we at IGK are overjoyed and proud to be part of the national effort to unite and strengthen the Bosnian-Herzegovinian community in Canada in the process of organized presentation of the strategic interests of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Canadian cultural mosaic.”

It is very important to convey a sense of loyalty towards Bosnia and Herzegovina to the future Bosnian-Herzegovinian generation in Canada and around the world.

And even though, unfortunately, we have an anti-Bosnian ambassador opposing our activities, we have managed to defend and strengthen the strategic interests of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Canada, although at certain moments it seemed impossible.

And finally, let us remember the words of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau: "By preserving and strengthening the significant Bosnian-Herzegovinian culture and tradition, the Bosnian-Herzegovinian community has enriched Canadian society," it was announced from IGK.
