Quarry above Donja Jablanica was active about 30 days ago: Machines were illegally excavating stone in August!

Four satellite images taken between 2018 and August this year prove that granite was illegally exploited from the quarry above Donja Jablanica.

Using Google Earth, Istraga.ba managed to document machines that were active in the quarry, which, according to the claims of the Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, "had been closed for the last four years."

It was precisely in that quarry that, due to heavy rainfall, an accumulation formed, triggering a rock avalanche that crashed onto houses in Donja Jablanica, killing at least 15 people.

In August 2018, the quarry was, as can be seen, active. In the red circle is one of the machines that were working on stone excavation.

This photo already shows that the quarry is not operating, and that vegetation has begun to spread over the mine itself. These are, therefore, the years when the company Sani d.o.o. Jablanica, owned by Dženan Honđo, formally stopped exploiting stone.

This photo already shows that part of the quarry is active again. Machines that were not there in 2019 are back. Follow the arrow inside the circle and you will notice one of the machines that were working at the quarry.

This photo, taken a month and eight days before the tragedy in Jablanica, shows two machines at the quarry. This is proof that the quarry was active shortly before the tragedy.

Therefore, the quarry above Donja Jablanica was active and stone was evidently being exploited there. It was precisely at this location that water from the surrounding mountains poured in, which then set off huge boulders that, rolling towards the Neretva River, destroyed everything in their path.

That the stone from the quarry was the main cause of this tragedy is also shown by a photo taken from the air immediately after the avalanche destroyed houses in Donja Jablanica.



The company that exploited the stone is, as we said, owned by the Jablanica tycoon Dženan Honđo. Locals had been warning about this exploitation for years, but no one stood in the way of this businessman who had good connections with the underworld.



In this photo, you can see businessman Honđo (red frame) in the company of convicted criminals from Sarajevo. In the foreground is Almin Mujezinović, known as Hans, who was recently arrested for drug trafficking. Previously convicted for attempted murder.

Behind Hans' back is Haris Drljo, whose criminal record includes convictions for robberies and numerous shootings.
