How to properly display and position the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina?

(Patria) - Every year, at least during national holidays, individuals, legal entities, and some institutions incorrectly display the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The law defines the flag in a horizontal position. Vexillology (the science of flags) is precise - if not otherwise specified by law (and it is not in our case) and if the flag does not have a coat of arms (and ours does not), then the flag is brought into a vertical position by rotating it 90 degrees clockwise from the horizontal position.

We should also know that the proportions of our flag are 2:1 and that anything else is incorrect.

The Law on the Flag was proclaimed by High Representative Carlos Westendorp on February 4, 1998, after which it was confirmed by the BiH Parliament on June 6, 2001, and then on May 4, 2004, the BiH Parliament adopted amendments to this law.

Namely, on February 3, 1998, Carlos Westendorp, then High Representative of the International Community for BiH, issued a Decision imposing the Law on the Flag of BiH, by which he proclaimed the current flag. The Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina also adopted the Law on the Flag of BiH in 2001, and it was published in the Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina on August 3, 2001.

The flag consists of a dark blue field with an isosceles rectangular yellow triangle, one side of which touches the upper edge of the flag and the other points towards the fly end. Along the hypotenuse of the triangle are nine white five-pointed stars, of which only half of the first and last are visible.

The three corners of the triangle symbolize the three constituent peoples of BiH: Bosniaks, Serbs, and Croats. The stars represent Europe.

Therefore, on March 1, Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, let us correctly display flags on our windows and houses, and let us honorably celebrate the greatest holiday of our homeland.
