How to solve the problem with a frozen car lock?

(Patria) - In recent days, morning temperatures in many parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina have been well below zero.

Low air temperatures lead to numerous difficulties in everyday life, and one of them is certainly frozen car locks.

When this happens to you, first carefully scrape off the top layer of ice covering the lock entrance with an ice scraper, and then carefully try to insert the key and turn it gently.

If it doesn't work, it means the lock is badly frozen and you need to try other methods.

One of them is to try to gently heat the tip of the key with a lighter and then insert it into the lock.

If you have WD-40 spray at hand, you can use it to lubricate the key or spray it on the lock itself - it will help the key slide into it more easily.

When winter hits, and you have to go to work early in the morning, it's good to have a spray bottle of alcohol in your purse, as this can also be first aid for a frozen car lock.

Women often carry mini packs of hand sanitizers with them, and they usually have a high alcohol content. Smear the key with the gel and then gently push it into the lock. Wait a few minutes before trying to turn it, as the alcohol should melt the ice.

It is important not to use force or rough methods with any of these techniques, as you could damage both the key and the car lock, reports Jutarnji list.

In most cases, one of these methods will work, but if it absolutely doesn't, it's better to call a locksmith than to cause more damage.
