(Patria) - Inter Miami fans finally witnessed the debut of the world's best footballer for their club, and Lionel Messi immediately showed them what to expect.
Inter played a League Cup group match against Mexican side Cruz Azul and celebrated a 2-1 victory, with Messi being the hero of Inter's first win since June 8.
The Argentine came on in the 54th minute, when his team was already leading 1-0 thanks to a goal by Robert Taylor.
However, the Mexicans equalised in the 65th minute through Uriel Antuna, and it seemed that would be the final result.
But Miami earned a free kick just as stoppage time was expiring, about twenty metres from goal, and it was clear this would be the last chance of the match.
Messi decided to make the most of it. He set himself, looked up, curled the ball over the wall and struck perfectly to secure victory in his debut. Simply a perfect ending to begin with.
It is worth noting that besides Messi, Sergio Busquets also made his debut, coming off the bench as well.
