Kajganić dissolves prosecution team investigating Dodik, Stevandić, and Višković

(Patria) - Chief State Prosecutor Milanko Kajganić has dissolved the prosecution team that was investigating Milorad Dodik, Nenad Stevandić, and Radovan Višković in the "coup d'état" case, Istraga.ba has learned.

Kajganić made the decision at the beginning of this week, and the "coup d'état" case will now only be handled by prosecutor Vedrana Mijović, daughter of former SNSD official Slavko Jovičić Slavuj.

According to Istraga.ba's information, there were as many as nine prosecutors in this team previously. However, even when the "prosecution team" existed, the effects of this investigation were not visible.

We remind you that at the end of February and the beginning of March this year, the National Assembly of Republika Srpska adopted laws prohibiting the work of several state institutions in the territory of that entity.

The laws were adopted after the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina convicted the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, to one year in prison and a six-year ban on political activity for the criminal offense of non-compliance with the decisions of the OHR.

After these laws were adopted, the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina formed a case against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, and the Prime Minister of Republika Srpska, Radovan Višković, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of attack on the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

An order for the investigation against Dodik and others was soon issued, and they were summoned for questioning as suspects. Dodik, Stevandić, and Višković never responded to the summons, and the Prosecutor's Office requested their detention.

In mid-March, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina accepted the Prosecutor's Office's proposal and ordered their detention.

Although the detention order was issued on March 12 of this year, the then member of the prosecution team, Dubravko Čampara, sent the arrest warrant for Dodik to the police agencies only on March 20 and 21, respectively.

"Based on Article 35, Paragraph 2, Point e) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I issue the ORDER... that in accordance with your management and legal authorizations, you inform all organizational units of your police agency that the aforementioned suspects (Nenad Stevandić, Milorad Dodik, and Radovan Višković) must be apprehended without delay and brought before the Court of BiH," reads the Order that Čampara sent to the Border Police of BiH, SIPA, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, FUP, and the Police of Brčko District.

A central search for Dodik, Stevandić, and Višković was entered into the SIPA system only on March 21 of this year.

In the period between the detention order and the issuance of the arrest warrant, Nenad Stevandić managed to cross the border of BiH. Several times afterward, Dodik, Stevandić, and Višković crossed the border unimpeded.

The Border Police of BiH did nothing, and the State Investigation and Protection Agency - SIPA "attempted" to arrest Dodik only once, in Istočno Sarajevo.

Meanwhile, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina ordered the issuance of an international arrest warrant for Dodik, Stevandić, and Višković, but the General Secretariat of Interpol refused to enter it into its system, stating that it was a "political process".

After Interpol refused to issue an international arrest warrant, only the central arrest warrant, valid for police agencies in BiH, remained in effect. However, no police agency in BiH has taken any concrete action to arrest Dodik.

Public interest gradually "waned" until, finally, Chief State Prosecutor Milanko Kajganić decided to dissolve the team and hand over the case to prosecutor Vedrana Mijović, who, two years ago, received an order from Aleksandar Vučić, awarded posthumously to her father Slavko Jovičić Slavuj on the occasion of Serbia's Statehood Day.
