Kafedžić to present results of the Office for Combating Corruption on Monday

(Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Office for Combating Corruption will organize a press conference tomorrow (Monday, March 11, 2024) where it will present the results achieved in the first year of the application of the Law on Prevention and Suppression of Corruption in Sarajevo Canton.

The conference will be held at the Swissotel hotel (Geneva hall – 4th floor) starting at 11:00 AM.)

Erduan Kafedžić, head of the KS Office for Combating Corruption, will inform media representatives about the outcomes of proceedings to determine conflicts of interest of public officials, corruption reports and the granting of protected whistleblower status, as well as activities undertaken in the area of strengthening the integrity of public institutions.

Julian Reilly, British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Deborah Mennuti, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Darja Softić Kadenić, Minister of Justice and Public Administration of KS, will also address the media representatives.

The Law on Prevention and Suppression of Corruption in Sarajevo Canton, which has been in effect since January 1, 2023, is one of the key anti-corruption laws. This law prevents conflicts of interest of public officials, protects whistleblowers, and strengthens the integrity of public institutions. The law has empowered the KS Office for Combating Corruption to determine and sanction conflicts of interest, grant protected whistleblower status, as well as to assess the compliance of institutional integrity plans with the Law and the Instructions for the Development and Implementation of Integrity Plans, and to make recommendations for improving institutional integrity plans.

The governments of the United Kingdom and the United States of America are providing support to strengthen the Office's capacities in implementing the Law on Prevention and Suppression of Corruption in Sarajevo Canton.
