RS representatives withdrew votes after Nikšić approved Global Fiscal Framework, Krišto silent on budget blockade

(Patria) - FBiH Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić revealed to the media today that after his vote at the BiH Fiscal Council for the adoption of the Global Fiscal Framework for the period 2026-2028, representatives from RS withdrew their votes.

Nikšić gave his approval at the session on February 3rd.

"People from Republika Srpska withdrew their votes after I voted, probably expecting me not to vote. And it's up to them, and it is known who the state Minister of Finance is and who should propose the state budget," Nikšić said.

Although Nikšić refused to vote for the Global Fiscal Framework in January, as he was awaiting a decision from the BiH Constitutional Court on the constitutionality of the RS Government, after the new RS Government headed by Savo Minić was formed, Nikšić gave his approval to this document which precedes the procedure for proposing the BiH Institutions Budget and international obligations for 2026.

Although the BiH Council of Ministers Chairperson Borjana Krišto then lashed out at Nikšić, stating that key obligations of BiH institutions were jeopardized, including the planned increase in the base for calculating salaries of employees in BiH institutions, as well as securing the necessary funds for the implementation of the General Elections, these days we do not hear the same criticism directed at Minister Amidžić or the representatives from RS who withdrew their consent and halted the procedure for proposing the Budget for 2026.

The Fiscal Council consists of: BiH Council of Ministers Chairperson Borjana Krišto, Prime Ministers of the Federation of BiH (Nikšić) and Republika Srpska (Minić), and Ministers of Finance at the state and entity levels (Srđan Amidžić, Toni Kraljević, and Zora Vidović).
