Jusko: We will continue to punish irresponsible citizens, one police officer infected with the virus

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of Internal Affairs of KS Ismir Jusko said at today's press conference that members of the MUP had specific activities yesterday concerning persons infected with coronavirus.

During yesterday, 29 persons violated the curfew, and 9 persons violated self-isolation measures.

"Compulsory isolation measures will continue," said Jusko.

He pointed out that members of the Police Administration of the MUP KS learned yesterday, during the apprehension of one person, that he was infected with coronavirus.

"Checks revealed that he had been issued a self-isolation order and that he was infected with coronavirus. This person is under MUP supervision," said Jusko.

In the afternoon, a second case occurred when an employee of the EU Delegation escaped from the isolation ward at Podhrastovi.

"The police kept him under control until the ambulance arrived. The person used one of the ambulance stops and ran out of the vehicle. Our colleagues who were escorting had protective suits and were slower, but there were also other colleagues with protective equipment, masks, visors, and gloves. They knew that the person they were arresting was ill with coronavirus and did not give up because their goal was to return him for treatment. I especially want to thank our EU colleagues who were with us. We are sorry that such a situation occurred, it is about a person who has done a lot of good for Bosnia and Herzegovina, as I was told, but regardless of who it was, if that person poses a threat to life and health, they will be arrested. That person was transferred to Butmir and will be under the control of the Mission in Butmir there," said the minister.

Jusko condemned the threats directed at the police, and every threat will be treated in the most serious possible manner.

"We thank our colleagues from OSA who helped us locate the person who made the threats."

Regarding migrants, Jusko said they are awaiting the expansion of capacities in Blažuj to continue with the accommodation of migrants.

"There are still 750 of them on the streets, and 2,150 in Blažuj. We will not allow begging and endangering security," said Jusko.

He confirmed that one police officer was infected with coronavirus, and eight are in isolation.

"Good weather has been forecast for everyone again this coming weekend, it is in everyone's interest to have fewer restrictions, but as long as we have situations where our picnic areas are full, and social distancing and protective equipment are not used, then other measures will have to be introduced. When we are left with no other option, we have to punish. The police will be present at all picnic areas," Jusko stated.
