Jusić: Islamic Community in BiH strongly condemns Amidžić's Islamophobic speech, we have rarely witnessed this new form of chauvinism in public space

(Patria) - Director of the Directorate for External Affairs and Diaspora of the Riyaset of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Muhamed Jusić, in a statement to MINA Agency, presented the position of the Islamic Community regarding insults against Muslims made by state minister Srđan Amidžić.

As he stated, the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina most strongly condemns the Islamophobic hate speech of the Minister of Finance and Treasury Srđan Amidžić (SNSD) and calls on the competent judicial institutions to prosecute this clear example of public incitement of national, racial, and religious hatred, discord, and intolerance.

- The use of the noun Muslim and belonging to Islam as an insult is a new form of chauvinism that we have rarely witnessed anywhere in the public space. Through this, the political option to which Minister Amidžić belongs continues with the dehumanization of Bosniaks and attempts to normalize hate speech against an entire nation - stated Jusić.

According to him, this is a malicious campaign being conducted in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the world.

- These attacks are clearly a continuation of genocidal policies of hatred that are intended to justify some new crimes and atrocities. This cannot be easily overlooked. We expect all those in whose name state minister Amidžić speaks to clearly condemn these views. We expect the same from the international community and competent state bodies - said Jusić.

Finally, he reminded the judicial authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina that according to the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, penalties ranging from three months to three years in prison are prescribed for public incitement or instigation of national, racial, or religious hatred, discord, or intolerance among the constituent peoples and others, as well as others living or residing in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Article 145.a, paragraph 1).
